I liked this style of epaulette but I understand the cost-savings in the current practice of making simple loops for the different sections. Eventually I expect epaulettes to disappear completely as I assume Scouts Canada will eventually abandon military style uniform shirts altogether. The UK moved to t-shirts several years ago and certainly with my cubs the uniform is too dorky (or whatever term they use) to be worn in public willingly.
A technical note: I decided to actually place this on the shoulder of my blanket. It seemed a logical place and at the same time I hope it will reinforce the shoulder. The hole for my head is starting to expand slightly on that side.
