Dartmouth Region, although part of Halifax County when I was a Scout and part of the Halifax Regional Municipality today, is still a separate scouting district. Apparently it is now an "area" instead of a "region".
As I look at this badge it again strikes me as odd to find a paddle crossed with a hockey stick behind the canoe. I know hockey is always popular but except for the occasional floor hockey game I don't remember it being a part of the program. Yeah, I'm not really a big hockey fan but the balance is wrong with the blade of the stick not matching the blade of the paddle.
