Another very traditional English badge. This one from the County of Avon.
An impressive looking sea-stag with a crown around it's neck from the coat of arms of a county that apparently no longer exists. The Government of England occasional re-draws the map and counties that have existed for centuries just sort of disappear! Can you imagine if one day Oregon just got split up between Washington and California? Even stranger, Avon was only created in 1974?!?
Now, even though the county has been abolished there are still Avon Scouts. I think that Scouting in the UK makes up it's own "counties" which may or may not correspond to civil ones. Not that different I suppose than BC/Yukon being a single "Province" in Canadian Scouting.
