Day 47: Manitoba Contingent

The Manitoba contingent badge from CJ'81.  One of the non-standard badges created by the Provincial contingents and featuring the Manitoba bison logo which I seem to remember from tourism ads. I did a quick check on Google and came up with a CBC item from 2006 where they talked about the Manitoba government changing the logo.

I find this badge really confusing. Why is the Province of Alberta lying on it's side between the Bison and the mountains? Why is there so much text? Is it just me or does the stitching make it look like it is raining over the mountains?
