There must have been pretty low standards for the skater badge when I was a Cub.
I know how to skate but at a very rudimentary level. I don't know how to go backwards and even my stopping has always been somewhere between a snowplow and just letting myself run out of steam. I loved skating on the Rideau Canal as a kid but it required very little in the way of tight turns, stopping or anything resembling control.
The design is certainly old fashioned. I don't think most skates look like this today.
Oh, and interesting how a little loop of thread is so visible in the picture but I barely noticed it when doing the sewing. It was from when it was sewn to my old Cub shirt.
