Day 110: Juan de Fuca

One of the local Scouting groups based out of Colwood.   Juan de Fuca is one of the bigger collection of groups in the area as the area has a large number of families thanks to the military housing at Belmont Park and tradtionaly more affordable family housing than closer in the core municipalities of Victoria.

The name and badge commemorates the Greek explorer in service to the King of Spain who came to the strait that bears his name in 1592. I personally like tall ships and this badge uses a very attractive image even if it represents a much more modern ship than that which would have carried the explorers in 1592. At least it's a square-rigged ship.
