Fort Clatsop National Historical Park in Oregon was our first stop on our big family road trip a couple of summers back.
It stands out as as one of the best stops we made for the whole family. The whole park was nice, the weather was fantastic and the recreation of the historic fort where the Lewis and Clark Expedition wintered on the Pacific Coast was fascinating.
It was also the place where Colin (2.5 at the time) dropped his wooden Thomas and I had to go "out of bounds" to retrieve it from under the boardwalk. Luckily the swampy ground was dry and no park rangers were anywhere near. We watched his engines a lot more closely after that.
